Beauty Flex is a stop-motion animation composed of hundreds of photos, created during my residency at Elsewhere (NC). Vintage books (like Face Lift from the 1950s) were the source material for these chosen gestures portrayed. Young artists were asked to demonstrate exercises and beauty treatments as strange mini performative vignettes.
A public, participatory video and installation at Micro Art Space in Cleveland Ohio. A selection of shoes were provided to the viewer, they could “walk in another persons shoes” along the perimeter of the white square (created with perspective correction within the actual installation ~ otherwise the square would appear as a trapezoid like the work by Nauman*) *see Bruce Nauman’s “Walking in an Exaggerated Manner around the Perimeter of a Square” (1967-68)
