LGBTQIA Moon Mission patches

LGBTQIA Moon Mission Patch by MMM, open edition

Dr. Sally K Ride was the first U.S. female identifying astronaut to leave orbit on board the U.S. Space Shuttle June 19th, 1983. When she passed away from cancer in 2012, her sexuality was revealed therefore also making her the first known queer astronaut in the Space Program. This information came to light in theĀ obituary notice announcing her death in 2012.

This agitprop (socio-political merch) doesn’t have my own artist name on it and remains affordable and available. It was designed to be worn or to be gifted in order to open conversations around re-visioning exclusive and colonial histories. In a sense this work is a parallel project to the U.S. Space Program itself. This work is my most popular work I have produced. I am on my 3rd edition of this LGBTQIA moon patch it is intentionally affordable and perpetually available.
